Vine-growers for life...
The Sacristán Mena family's love for wine-growing dates back to the end of the nineteenth century. Several generations of the Mena family had dedicated their heart and soul to the vineyard when one day, back in the 1950s, Rosario Mena inherited some of the finest lands in La Seca.
Rosario was raised on this love for the land. It is hardly surprising that she in turn instilled a similar respect and passion for the vines in her husband, Alfredo Sacristán. Alfredo learnt all the secrets of the countryside, accumulating over decades of hard work and dedication a unique experience that has given him a complete and profound understanding of wine-growing.
Over the years, Rosario, Alfredo and their three children -Teresa, Charo and Eusebio Sacristán Mena, who have also inherited the family passion- have expanded the vineyard and acquired new land on which the finest varieties of Verdejo, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Viura grapes have been planted.
Five years ago, and with the advice of the French oenologist Jean François Hebrard, the Sacristán Mena family set about fulfilling one of their great family dreams: selecting the best vinestocks in their vineyards to produce an organic wine that would reflect their years of experience and expert knowledge in the field. Hence, ABABOL was born; a very special wine that condenses folklore and tradition with the proper sophistication that Jean François brings to the production. Under the designation of origin of Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León, ABABOL is a different wine and one of great character that will not leave anyone unmoved, in either of its three varieties.
